Frequently Asked Questions About Counseling in Riverside, CA, Inland Empire, and Greater California.
Who knew when you started googling “find a therapist near me” that you would’ve find so many options, and be left with SO many questions? We are here to help!
How long do counseling sessions typically last?
Most sessions last 60 minutes. This gives enough time to talk through what is happening while keeping the session focused and supportive.
What happens during the first counseling session?
The first session is an introduction. We review what brings you to counseling, gather background information, and discuss goals. It is also a time to ask questions and see if the counselor is a good fit for you.
How do I know if I (or my child) really need counseling?
If you or your child are feeling overwhelmed, struggling to cope, noticing changes in mood, behavior, or relationships, counseling can help. You do not need to wait for a crisis—many people come to counseling simply to gain support, perspective, or healthier coping skills.
How often will I need to come to counseling?
Most people begin with weekly sessions. The frequency may change over time depending on your needs, progress, and goals.
How long will I need to come to counseling?
The length of counseling depends on your unique situation. Some clients benefit from short-term support, while others find ongoing sessions helpful for deeper or long-term challenges.
How much do sessions cost?
Session fees vary depending on the type of service. $200 for an initial assessment and $180 for each individual session.
Are sessions covered by my insurance?
We are an out-of-network provider, meaning that we can provide superbills if you would like to submit them for your insurance carrier for reimbursement. For your information, a superbill does not guarantee that an insurance provider will pay for the services provided. Each insurance plan is different, so it is important for you to contact your insurance provider to find out what would be covered.
How do I seek reimbursement from my insurance company?
If we are out-of-network with your plan, we can provide a detailed receipt (superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
Do you have evening and weekend appointments available?
No, unfortunately we do not offer any evening or weekend appointments at this time.
Where do sessions take place?
We currently offer therapy in-person at our Riverside, CA office, and telehealth (e.g., secure online/video or phone) for clients in California
